Welcome from the Congregation of St. Mark's

Welcome to St. Mark's Episcopal Church located in beautiful, historic Fincastle, Virginia. Ours is a very old church established before the American Revolution, in 1771. Our present building was erected in 1837. In 2004 we purchased two additional buildings across the street from our church and have renovated them for use as our Ministry Center, where the church offices are located along with the Carico Library, the Food Pantry, and space for various other ministries. Our new Youth Center includes a room for our teens, Sunday School classroom space, and the office of our director of Christian Education. We are a congregation rich in traditions and faith, but take joy in the knowledge that we are a living part of the present Body of Jesus Christ. We love to welcome visitors both young and old to our midst.

Our mission statement is: TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN! We attempt to use that goal in order to evaluate and enhance all that we do here at St. Mark's, from our worship to our outreach programs to Sunday School classes for all ages to our many fellowship opportunities, some of which you will find in the Christian Formation area of this web site. We hope that you may wish to join us in our endeavor to draw closer to our loving Lord.

St. Mark's is a congregation of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia of the Episcopal Church USA. The Rt. Rev F. Neff Powell is our bishop. You may learn more about our diocese by visiting www.dioswva.org

As you browse through our web site we hope you will see evidences of the ways we are reaching out to help others know Jesus Christ and ways that we have, as a congregation, made Him known.
